Burger buns
Fresh , flavorful buns are easy to make and are so much better than store bought. These are soft, fluffy ,moist, mildly sweet and have beautiful color because of butter. These buns are perfect for burgers and sandwich with any kind of filling. I love baking breads at home, there is something so good about homemade breads. All of my friends tried these buns and declared them THE BEST. You have to try it to believe !!!
For roux:
All purpose flour 2 tbsp
Water 8 tbsp
- Cook 2 tbsp flour along with 8 tbsp water . Mix it up using whisk to avoid lumps.
- Cook until the mixture starts leaving the pan and is gelatinous.
- Allow it to cool .
All purpose flour 2 & 1/2 cup
Milk powder 3 tbsp
Sugar 3 tbsp
Salt 1 tsp
Instant dry yeast 2 tsp
Water 1/2 cup + 1/8 cup if required
Butter 40 gm
Method
- Mix flour , milk powder, sugar, salt and yeast.
- Add roux as well and lukewarm water gradually.
- Knead the dough for 7-8 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
- Don't add too much water as we do not want the dough to be sticky and runny. We want the buns to hold their shape .
- Add soft butter and knead it well to incorporate butter uniformly into the dough.
- Place it in a greased bowl and cover it with cling wrap.
- Allow it proof until it doubles up.
- Once done, punch it down to release air and knead it for 2-3 minutes.
- Divide it into equal portions , depending on the size you prefer.
- Shape them into smooth round balls.
- Place them on a baking tray and cover them and allow them to proof for at least 45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 190° C.
- Brush the buns with milk and bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes.
- Apply melted butter to baked buns and cover them with kitchen towel to cool down.
