Crescent rolls

Homemade crescent rolls are buttery , flaky and easier to make with just few simple ingredients. Any kind of homemade bread makes the meal much more special . Everything tastes better and incredible when it's made from scratch. Made some plain and few with chocolate filling.

You can make them plain or with a filling of your choice, sweet or savory.... here is the chocolate one !!!

Ingredients

All purpose flour                       3 & 1/2 cups
Sugar                                           3 tbsp
Salt                                               2 tsp
Milk powder                               1& 1/2 tbsp
Instant yeast                              1 & 1/4 tsp
Olive oil                                       2 tbsp
Lukewarm milk                        1 & 1/2 cup + 1/4 cup if required

Method
  • Add  1 & 1/2 cup lukewarm milk to a big bowl and add one cup flour, yeast, sugar , salt and milk powder .
  • Mix with a spatula and keep on adding remaining flour gradually and mix well after each addition.
  • If you find the dough dry add remaining milk and knead for 7-8 minutes.
  • Add olive oil .
  • Knead until smooth and elastic.
  • Place in a greased bowl and cover with cling wrap.
  • Keep it aside for first proofing , until it doubles up.
  • Once doubled, punch it down to release air pockets and divide into equal portions.
  • Roll out each portion into a circular  disc.
  • Cut the circle into wedges .
  • Mark a small incision at wide end and roll up each wedge .
  • For stuffed rolls, place the chocolate piece or filling of your choice and then roll.

  • Place on the baking sheet  leaving some space between each roll.
  • Cover them and let them rise for 30 minutes.
  • Apply milk on each roll before baking.
  • Preheat the oven to 180 C.
  • Bake the rolls  for 12-15 minutes.
  • Apply butter on hot rolls once they are done.

I will always dedicate my first encounter with breads to you! If not for your bakes, breads wouldn't come to me as a temptation. The feeling when I tried the Cresent rolls for the first time was ineffable! Thank you Kiran for jotting down every recipe and making this blog a treasure chest, for us to choose from. And I'm glad that I'm the first one to comment on this post.
