Red velvet marble cake



Red velvet marble cake is moist , tender and is a bit different from the regular red velvet cake. It has a texture of a pound cake  which is indeed rich and delicious. Addition of cream cheese makes it all the more moist and beautiful.




A marble cake is a cake that has  swirls of contrasting colors. Chocolate and vanilla are the famous one , and this has got swirls of red velvet and vanilla batter  together. The marbling effect by creating swirls is easy and end result is gorgeous !!!





Ingredients

All purpose flour                          3 cups
Baking powder                             2 tsp
Castor sugar                                 2 & 1/4 cup
Butter                                             200 gms
Eggs                                               5
Milk                                               3/4 cup
Cream cheese / hung curd      1/2 cup
Vanilla extract                           2 tsp

For red velvet batter 
Cocoa powder                            1 tbsp
Milk                                              3  tbsp
Red food color                            1 tsp

Method

  • Preheat oven to 170° C.
  • Grease and flour a 25 cm bundt pan.
  • Beat together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Stir in vanilla , add one egg at a time and beat well after each addition.
  • Add cream cheese / hung curd and mix well.
  • Sift flour and baking powder together and add to the egg mixture.
  • Add milk and beat well until  you get a smooth batter.
  • Take out one cup batter in a separate bowl and add cocoa powder , 3 tbsp milk and red food color.
  • Pour half of vanilla batter in prepared pan .
  • Add half of red velvet batter on top of it , no need to cover it fully.
  • Cover the red batter with remaining vanilla batter .
  • Add red batter on vanilla batter .
  • Make swirls in the batter with knife or skewer.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45-50 minutes.
