Eggless donuts



Donuts , eggless donut dough is  made with flour, milk, sugar, yeast and then the donuts are fried and coated with sugar and cinnamon.  It sounds a bit intimidating to make them from scratch but this is a classic recipe for beginners .You can try different variations by coating them with chocolate glaze , lemon glaze .....  


Ingredients

All purpose flour                     2 & 1/2 cup
Sugar                                         3 tbsp
Salt                                             1 tsp
Melted butter                         1 tbsp
Instant yeast                            1 & 1/2 tsp
Lukewarm milk                       1 & 1/4 cup
Cinnamon                                      2 tsp
Brown sugar / cane sugar        1 cup

Mix sugar and cinnamon and keep aside.
Milk quantity depends on type of flour so add milk gradually to knead the dough.

Method


  • Mix flour , sugar , salt and yeast together in a mixing bowl.
  • Add milk gradually and knead it for 7-8 minutes.
  • Once the dough is smooth , add butter and knead again to incorporate butter uniformly into the dough.
  • Keep it covered in a greased bowl for first proofing, until it doubles .
  • Once doubled, punch it down to release air.
  • Roll the dough out to a thickness of 1/4 inch.
  • With the help of cutter , cut the donuts.
  • Keep them covered for second rise .
  • Once they have risen, deep fry them in hot oil.
  • Turn them over as soon as they become golden on underside .
  • Remove and place them on paper towel.
  • Roll them in cane sugar - cinnamon mixture.
