Soft, buttery garlic breadsticks  - highly addictive !!!

These homemade buttery garlic breadsticks are incredibly soft, fluffy and AMAZING !!!

These are easy to make and a great accompaniment to your warm soup. Make these at home  with simple ingredients in comfort of your kitchen. It takes no time to make the dough but you  have to wait for the dough to proof.

These are incredible and perfect !!!

Ingredients

All purpose flour                  4  cups
Milk powder                         2 tbsp
Instant yeast                        2 tsp
Sugar                                    2  tbsp
Salt                                        2 tsp
Olive oil                               2 tbsp
Garlic butter                      2 tbsp
Lukewarm  milk               1 & 1/2 cup + 1/4 cup if required

Garlic butter for brushing on breadsticks     3 tbsp

Method
  • Mix flour , milk powder, and salt.
  • Dissolve sugar in lukewarm milk.
  • Add one cup of flour mix and yeast to lukewarm milk and stir.
  • Gradually keep on adding flour mix.
  • Once all the flour is mixed in milk , start kneading the dough.
  • It'll be sticky affair first  but add oil ,1 tbsp at a time, and continue kneading for 9-10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes the dough will be smooth, keep it covered in a greased bowl for first proof.... approx 1 hour or until it doubles up.
  • Once doubled, punch the dough gently to remove air pockets.
  • Add garlic butter and knead it gently.
  • Roll it into a rectangle and using pizza cutter, cut it into 18 pieces.
  • Flatten each piece and roll it into a log ,brush the garlic butter on it and place it in a greased tray.
  • Leave aside for 30 minutes for second proofing.
  • Preheat the oven to 190° C.
  • Brush milk on these sticks and bake in preheated oven for 15-18 minutes.
  • Brush melted garlic butter on them as soon as they are out of oven .
I kept a bowl of water inside the oven while baking one batch of breadsticks.
They turned out to be much  softer  and fluffy. I recommend  placing a bowl of water while baking the bread.
